Pokhara – December, 28th
Denizens of the lake city & tourists visiting the area will be able to savor absolutely delicious varieties of foods in the 11th street festival that will take off here with the slogan ‘lets eat on the streets, dance on the streets & enjoy on the streets’.
The 3 –km long road around lake side will be converted into the longest restaurant in the world, replete with tables & chairs loaded with delectable food. The festival became possible at the initiatives of the Restaurant & Bar Association of Nepal. The festival, to be inaugurated by tourism minister Sharat Singh Bhandari, will continue till January 1. The organizers have completed the decoration work & all other preparations for the event at the venue.
Festival coordinator Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai said that they have given continuity to the program to develop Pokhara as the Gregorian New Year hot spot of the world. Restaurant & Bar Association Pokhara chapter chairman Surya Bujel said that they have organized to inject life into Pokhara in the off season. Probably, this is the biggest festival organized on the streets for such a long time in the country. They have advertised about the program in Indian cities like Darjeeling & Sikkim.
People of Gurung, Newar, Tamang, Tharu, and Magar & Limbus including other communities will stage their respective cultural shows during the festival. The organizers expect transactions of more than Rs. 40 crores during this festival. And this wonderfully blessed lake city with some of the most stunning natural backdrops in the world could probably rake in more money than mentioned.
